Hello
I am Katy Driscoll, a BACP-registered integrative therapist specialising in bipolar disorder, adult ADHD and addiction. I offer thoughtful, collaborative psychotherapy for adults seeking greater stability, self-understanding and emotional resilience.
My work is influenced by existential psychotherapy and informed by both professional training and lived experience.
I work with clients in London, UK and online.
Why I Specialise in Bipolar Disorder, ADHD & Addiction
People often ask why I have chosen to specialise in bipolar disorder, ADHD and addiction.
The answer is simple: I believe these are among the most complex and misunderstood experiences in mental health. People living with bipolar, ADHD and/or addiction have spent years feeling judged, misdiagnosed, ashamed or misunderstood. They learn to hide parts of themselves, struggle in relationships and the workplace, question their own unique experiences, or to believe that they are somehow "too much" or "not enough". Many have become experts at surviving while feeling profoundly alone.
I chose to build my practice around these areas because I know that understanding and awareness changes everything. Alongside my professional training and clinical experience, I bring lived experience of bipolar disorder, ADHD and addiction. While every person's journey is unique, this has given me an appreciation of the complexity, courage and resilience involved in living with these difficult conditions. It has also taught me that recovery is rarely about becoming someone different. More often, it is about understanding yourself more deeply, finding a sense of peace and stability in ways that work for you, and creating a life that feels meaningful.
My role as your therapist is not to assume that I know your experience because of my own. It is to listen with curiosity, respect and openness, recognising that your story is yours alone.
I work integratively, drawing on evidence-based psychotherapy while paying close attention to identity, relationships, emotional regulation and the questions that often emerge alongside diagnosis: Who am I? Can I trust myself? How do I move forward? What kind of life do I want to build?
I believe therapy can be a place where these questions are explored safely, without judgement and without losing sight of hope. For me, the creative process plays an important role in living well with bipolar disorder, ADHD &/or addictions.
Whether we work together for a shorter period or over the longer term, my aim is to offer a thoughtful therapeutic relationship in which you feel understood, challenged when appropriate, and supported to build a life that is not defined by a diagnosis but informed by a deeper understanding of yourself.
